Voyager scholarship program
The Voyager Scholarship Program lasts for two years and helps students who want to work in public service. It offers financial aid, travel experiences, and mentorship to support students in becoming future leaders. It’s for undergraduates in their third year who are passionate about public service. The program helps students develop leadership skills, connect with others, and explore their interests in public service.
Voyager scholarship program and overview
We are looking for young people from every corner of this country who share a curiosity about the world and the conviction to want to make positive change within it—just like the scholarship’s founders. Students should have a passion for helping others, experience serving in or building community, and an expansive view of what’s possible through public service. This scholarship offers financial aid, travel experiences, and mentorship to college students:
1. Financial Aid: Students can get up to $50,000 over two years to help with college costs, with $25,000 each year.
2. Summer Voyage: Between junior and senior year, students receive $10,000 and free housing for a work-travel experience they design.
3. 10-Year Travel Stipend: After graduation, students get $2,000 each year for 10 years to travel, totaling $20,000.
4. Fall Summit: In junior year, students may attend a gathering to meet others, improve leadership skills, and learn from public service leaders.
5. Network of Leaders: Students get access to a speaker series and join the Obama Foundation’s community after graduation.
6. Meetings: Students meet monthly over Zoom for about 90 minutes and also have coaching sessions to plan their Summer Voyage.
Eligibility criteria for Voyager scholarship program 2024-2025
Getting a funded scholarship program is not an easy thing, in order to be worthy for any scholarship, one has to examine his or herself before applying for any scholarship.
Therefore, to be eligible for the Voyager scholarship program 2024-2025, applicants must:
1. Plan to be full-time juniors at a US college or university in Fall 2024.
2. Finish their sophomore year in Spring 2024 or transfer from a 2-year to a 4-year program for junior year.
3. Show financial need, determined similarly to FAFSA.
4. Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
5. Demonstrate a dedication to public service.
6. Intend to pursue a career in public service after graduation.
7. Be a US citizen, permanent resident, or have deferred action status under DACA.
8. Commit to participating fully in monthly programming, including meetings with coaches and networking, and develop a Summer Voyage plan.
Note
“Public service” includes a broad range of paths that advance greater societal good. This work most frequently occurs through the nonprofit and government sectors but can also include the arts, social entrepreneurship, and advancing corporate social responsibility for instance.
Please note: Preference may be given to applicants with no or limited prior engagement with other leadership programs in their undergraduate experience.

Selection criteria for the Voyager scholarship program 2024-2025
scholars/applicants are selected based on some criteria by the scholarship organization, below are some of the criteria to be selected;
1. Possess an interest in building bridges across communities
2. Demonstrate curiosity and dedication to being a life-long learner
3. Demonstrate a values-based and collaborative approach to leadership
4. Demonstrate a willingness to learn from and share with other Voyagers in a group setting.
Application requirements for the Voyager scholarship program 2024-2025
Applicants must create an account to access complete requirements, which include, in part:
• short responses to 8 prompts
• 2-minute video
• current, complete transcript of grades that includes student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken
• financial aid information.
