Global Korean scholarship 2024-2025

Overview

The Global Korea Scholarship 2024, formerly known as the KGSP Korean Government Scholarship Program, is currently accepting applications. This prestigious and highly competitive scholarship offers fully-funded opportunities for master’s and Ph.D. degree programs. Sponsored by the Korean government, the GKS 2024 aims to select over 1300 international students from 155 countries who aspire to pursue graduate-level studies (master’s or doctoral) or engage in research in Korea.

All selected students will be placed at various universities in South Korea, as part of the Korean Ministry of Education’s efforts to enhance international exchanges and competitiveness. Since 2016, over 104,000 international students have benefited from this Korean scholarship. There are no restrictions on fields of study, providing candidates with wide opportunities to pursue their careers. Applicants can apply for the KGSP 2024 through two channels: submitting their documents to the Korean Embassy of their country or directly to a domestic university in Korea.

  GKS Scholarship Duration:

Doctoral Degree Program: 4 years

√. 1 year of the Korean language program

√. 3 years of the regular degree program

Master’s Degree Program: 3 years

√•  1 year of the Korean language program

√•  2 years of a degree program

Research Program: 6 Months or 1 Year

What to benefit as an applicant of the Global Korean scholarship 2024-2025

The fully-funded scholarship in South Korea covers all expenses of the selected students. The scholarship will cover:

• Airfare (Return Air Ticket)
• Settlement Allowance: 200,000 KRW (offered once after entry to Korea)
• Monthly Allowance: (Degree Program) 900,000 KRW per month, (Research Program) 1,500,000 KRW per month
• Research Allowance:
• Liberal Arts and Social Science majors: 210,000 KRW per semester.
• Natural Science and Engineering majors: 240,000 KRW per semester
• 1-Year Korean Language Training Fee: Fully covered
• Degree Program Tuition: Fully covered
• Research Support Fees
• Medical Insurance will be covered.
• Korean Proficiency Grants: 100,000 KRW per month.

Eligibility Criteria for Global Korea Scholarship 2024-2025     

1 All international students are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

2  Korean citizens are not permitted to apply.

3 Applicants for graduate programs must be under the age of 40.

4 For Master’s program applicants: A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

5  For Doctoral program applicants: A master’s degree or higher is required.

6 Research program applicants must have received an invitation from one of the partner universities.

7  Individuals who have previously received a Korean scholarship are not eligible to apply.

8  Applicants must be in good health.

How to Apply for the Global Korea Scholarship 2024-2025?

There are two ways to apply for the Korean Government Scholarship Program 2024. Either to the Korean Embassy of your country or directly to the domestic university of Korea.

Here are tips to know:

• While applying to the Korean embassy, a candidate needs to dispatch original or attested documents to the embassy.
• On the other hand, applying directly to the university requires a candidate to submit all documents to the domestic university.
• An applicant applying via the embassy can apply to 3 universities whereas an applicant applying directly to the university can apply only to 1 university.

Students passing round two of the Embassy track process should not consider it the final selection.
